Halal Malaysia’s ecosystem is quite diverse, as Malaysia is one country with a competitive environment where the government, industry players, and consumers are connected. The halal ecosystem in Malaysia is developed based on a reliable governance model emphasising integrity and a dynamic industry development framework.
The integrity of Halal Malaysia is under the purview of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), the custodian of Malaysia Halal Certification. Currently, there are nine (9) certification schemes, with pharmaceuticals being one of them.
The pharmaceutical scheme refers to products in finished dosage forms, including prescription and non-prescription medicines for human use that are registered with the Drug Control Authority (DCA) under Ministry of Health, Malaysia.
