The European norm EN 39 specifies the requirements for unalloyed carbon steel welded round tubes intended for use in the construction of scaffolding.
Scaffolding is a temporary structure used to support people and material in the construction and repair of buildings and other large structures. Tubes to EN39 this European Standard, which have a specified outside diameter of 48.3mm and specified wall thickness of 3.2mm or 4.0mm.

3OD and ID:脴 1鈥?/2 (48,3 mm) The tolerance on specified outside diameter is +/-0.5mm. The Inside diameter of Tubulars shall allow insertion of a gauage of diameter 37.7mm for a minimum length of 20mm
4Type:1. Type 3 Tubular: Tubular of 3,2mm specified wall thickness 2. Type 4: Tubular of 4,0mm specified wall thickness 3. Bare Tubular Tubular whose surface is as manufactured without subsequent coating
5Length:Tubes shall be delivered in standard lengths of 6m or 6.4m, purchaser to specify the length required.
6Galvanizing (coating):The tubes shall be hop dip galvanized unless specify required by the purchaser. The galvanizing shall be either in accordance with EN10240 to coating quality B2 or in accordance with EN ISO1461
7MarkingTubes shall be marked by impression at liner intervals not exceeding 1.5m. The height of characters shall be at least 4.0mm and the impression shall be clear and legible. The depths of impression shall be at least 0.2mm.
The marking shall show: 1) the number of this European Standard (EN39). 2) the name or trade mark of the manufacturer. 3) the thickness type (3 or 4).
